  • A thesis is just a fancy way of making a statement of what you believe and why you believe it.
  • When you write a paper, you MUST clearly state your thesis in your introductory paragraph.

A good thesis statement makes the difference between a thoughtful informed essay and a simple retelling of facts or opinions.

Thesis Statement – A thesis is a direct statement that explains:

  1. The topic of your paper(in as few words as possible)
  2. What you want to prove about that topic (without using first person)
  3. Why it is true (at least three points of evidence from research)

Organize your Thesis Statement
